Microsoft acknowledges another the extraordinary software solution developed by daenet. In its latest implementation in an agile SOA environment, daenet utilized Windows Server AppFabric, at that time not yet released to the public. daenet’s solution was featured in the global Application Infrastructure launch event. Dr. Ralf Hoelper, IT-director of Lufthansa subsidiary Jettainer GmbH, talks about AppFabric being an important “enabler” for the service-oriented solution. Jettainer GmbH is one of the leading global service providers for container management in the air cargo industry. The new design of the UCD Cockpit built for Jettainer GmbH offers their employees complete access to different applications, services and workflows, to enable management of the container inventory and flow around the globe. The solution is based on a SilverLight 4.0 client and heavily utilizes Windows Server AppFabric as a host for services to enable a service-oriented architecture. The service-oriented architecture led to a reduction in development time and cost. Unlike previous architectures, the customer now has access to a flexible and extremely scalable service-based backend system which reduced software development cost of the whole project by approximately 25%. Enabled by Microsoft’s newest architecture incorporating Windows Server AppFabric, important capabilities that are expensive to implement like monitoring or governance of the services did not need to be developed as part of the solution because AppFabric delivers them “out-of-the-box”.
